Magazine Article

Notes and bibliographic entries for magazines include:

  • author’s name
  • article title
  • magazine title
  • publication date.
  • If online, include the DOI (preferred) or URL

Magazine Article (Sec. 14.87)

  • If an online edition of a magazine is consulted, include the URL or Database name at the end of the citation.

General Format 

Full Note: 

1. Author First Name/Initial Surname, "Article Title," Magazine Title, Month Day, Year, page #. URL/Database

 
Example:

1. Denis Judd, "Hanging on to the Jewel in the Crown," History Today, November 2009, 34.

2. Will R. Bird, "What Was the Price of Vimy Ridge?," Maclean's, April 1, 1936, http://www.macleans.ca/archives/what-was-the-price-of-vimy-ridge/.

NOTES: 

  • Like newspaper articles, magazine articles can often be cited in text or in notes with not corresponding bibliography entry (see also section 14.96).
  • If unsigned articles are included in the bibliography, the title of the magazine (NOT the article) stands in place of the author. (Section 14.87)
