About Citing Sources

For each type of source in this guide, both the general form and a specific example will be provided.

The following format will be used:

In-Text Citation- entry that appears in the body of your paper.

Reference List- entry that appears at the end of your paper.

Information was drawn from Scientific style and format : the CSE manual for authors, editors, and publishers.

Conference Paper

The general format and example below refers to a conference paper.

General Format

In-Text Citation:
(Authors et al. date)

Reference List:

Author AA, Author BB. Date. Title of paper. In: Title of conference. Number and name of the conference; date of conference; place of the conference. Place of publication (State or Prov): Publisher name. p, page numbers.

Example

In-Text Citation:
(Thorneycroft 1990)

Reference List:

Thorneycroft IH. 1990. Oral contraceptives and myocardial infarction. In: Toward a new standard in oral contraception. Proceedings of a symposium held at the 12th World Congress on Fertility and Sterility; 1989 Oct 3; Marrakesh, Morocco. St. Louis (MO): Mosby-Year Book; 1990. p, 1393-1397.
