CSE Citation Style_pre 2019

About Citing Sources

For each type of source in this guide, both the general form and a specific example will be provided.

The following format will be used:

In-Text Citation- entry that appears in the body of your paper.

Reference List- entry that appears at the end of your paper.

Information was drawn from Scientific style and format : the CSE manual for authors, editors, and publishers.

Personal Communications

The general format and example below refers to personal communications.

Do not include references to personal communications (e.g., letters, phone calls, conversations, text messages, emails, and interviews) in your reference list. Instead, CSE recommends placing them within the body of the paper and acknowledging them in a "Notes" section.

General Format

In-Text Citation:
(date type of communication)

Example

In-Text Citation:
...although this is not an easy thing to do (2008 letter from S Neifer to me), it is well worth the effort.
