Putting Ourselves on Display: Rethinking Promotional Initiatives for Greater Sustainability: Reaching Students

The Display Team's journey as we expand beyond the "behind glass" library display.

Student Event Calender

Our Student Event Post-it Note Calender was initially created for use at the Fall 2013 Orientation and now it has become a display staple. The Display Team compiles services and events from multiple library units and calenders to a single visual monthly print calender which is made up of individually printed Post-it Notes that feature our hours, services and events.

It was come with it's own set of challenges like learning how to print onto Post-it Notes and chosing font/image colour that compliment our paper colour. In order to keep this monthly endeavour sustainable and manageable templates have been formatted for ongoing use and revision.

Mini Bulletin Boards

Mini Bulletin Boards were created so we could highlight our services in high traffic areas. The readbox is our most popular mini board and students often come to the library asking for the books they see on the board.

Contests

The Display Team has run two contests to date to varying degrees of success. We collaborated with the Web Services Librarian to create online entry forms as well as learned how to use site-tracking software  to analyze website views. The below graph show the number of participants for both our streaming video and Leisure Collection contest.
