Thumbnail Sketching

Thumbnail sketches are small drawings that can help you quickly visualize different ideas for the layout of your poster. Doing a few rough sketches in pencil at the very beginning of the design process--before you even start on the computer--can make a  difference to the end result. All you need to do is draw some boxes and try out different combinations of shapes for blocks of text, spaces for images, graphs, etc. The idea is to capture from your head some basic layout ideas that might be lost if you were to start designing directly with the computer.
