Course Readings

Create a Course Readings List

Looking for a streamlined way to share essential course materials with your students? The Library’s Course Readings Collection and Reading List Service is designed to support your teaching and improve student access to required resources.

Course readings are materials such as textbooks, articles, notes, and multimedia that instructors place on reserve for student use. These may include:

  • Physical items available for short-term loan at the House of Learning or Williams Lake campus libraries
  • Electronic resources accessible online 24/7

Submit a Course Reading or Reading List

Faculty can request to add individual items or full reading lists using our
Course Readings / Reading List Submission Form

Materials can be made available for:

  • 2-hour, 1-day, or 3-day loans (for physical items)
  • Online access via permalinks to licensed TRU Library resources or open access resources

We’ll help you build a customized reading list tailored to your course needs.

Reading List Service and Library Support

Through the Reading List Service, the Library can assist instructors by:

  • Linking to physical items in the Course Readings collection available at the Research Help Desk, 3rd floor, House of Learning Library and Room 1115 at the Williams Lake campus library.
  • Providing permalinks to licensed TRU Library resources including eBooks, eBook chapters, streaming video, journal articles
  • Scanning and uploading portions of print materials in accordance with TRU's Fair Dealing Policy
  • Uploading instructor-created content like test solutions, drawings, notes.
  • Incorporating links to web resources and open access articles or open educational resources.

Additional support includes:

  • Purchasing eBooks or streaming content when possible.
  • Identifying OERs to supplement your course.
  • Rechecking and updating reading list links each term.

Add Your Reading List to Moodle

Once your course reading or reading list is ready, it’s easy to share it with your students:

  1.     Navigate to your reading list in the Library system.
  2.     Copy the URL from your browser’s address bar.
  3.     Paste the link wherever you’d like in your Moodle course shell—such as in a weekly module, resource list, or announcement.

This direct link gives students quick access to all the materials you've selected for their course.
