Search Course Readings

Did you know the Library offers a dedicated Course Readings service to support student access to essential materials? Whether you're teaching or studying, here’s how it works—and how to make the most of it.

What Are Course Readings?

Course readings are materials—like textbooks, articles, and other resources—that instructors place on reserve for students. These can be:

  • Physical items (e.g., print books) available in the Library
  • Electronic documents accessible online via direct links

This service ensures students have timely access to the resources they need, especially for high-demand or required readings.

How to Find Course Readings

Looking for a specific reading? You can search by:

  • Course name
  • Course number
  • Instructor name
  • Keyword

Just use the search tool on the Course Readings page. If you need help, our team is happy to assist! Visit the Research Help Desk on the 3rd floor of the House of Learning Library, the librarian at the Williams Lake Campus library, or contact us online.

How to Access Course Readings

The physical course readings collection is located across from the Research Help Desk and is available during the building's regular hours. Items are loaned on a first-come, first-served basis. At the Williams Lake campus library, physical items are located in room 1151 right beside the information desk, and are accessible during Williams Lake library hours.

Physical library materials can be checked out using the Digital Student ID card accessed from your myTRU account.

Prefer digital? Most digital course readings are available 24/7 through the Library website on and off campus.

Loan Periods

Most physical course readings are available for loan for either 2 hours, 1 day, or 3 days.

Some items, especially digital ones, may have different access terms. Check the item record for details.
