Equipment can be borrowed for three days at a time with one renewal. All equipment must be brought in to renew. Here is is a list of what you can borrow and where to get them:

The TRU Main Library has laptops that may be borrowed by current TRU students and faculty.
These laptops may be borrowed from the information desk at Main Library for a 3 day period.
Q. Who can borrow a laptop?
A. The TRU Library has a collection of laptops that can be borrowed by TRU faculty, students and staff. Community members cannot borrow laptops.
Q. What is required to borrow a laptop?
A. You must present a current TRU student or faculty/staff card and your borrower account must be in good standing.

Q. Can I take the laptop out of the library?
Q. What should I do if I have problems with the laptop?
A. Please notify library staff at the information desk where the laptop was borrowed.
Q. Can I book the laptop for a future date?
A. No. Laptops may not be booked in advance. They are available on a "first-come, first-served" basis.
Q. Can I renew the laptop and use it for another 3 day period?
A: Yes, but you must bring the laptop to the Library check-out desk where you borrowed it, and request a renewal in person. If there are no laptops left in the library, renewals are suspended and you will have to return the laptop and wait a half hour. If no one borrows the returned laptop, you can borrow it again.
Q. Can I download software onto the laptop?

A. Yes. Laptop usage is governed by the TRU Computer Usage Agreement.
Q. What happens if I return the laptop late?
A. Borrowers returning laptops after the due time will be charged a $2 per hour to a maximum of $100.
Q. What if I damage the laptop or lose it?
A. You will be required to pay the repair cost if you damage the laptop. You will be required to pay the replacement cost of up to $1400 if you lose the laptop or it is unrepairable.
Q. Is there technical support available for help with using the laptop and the software?
A. Students can request assistance with laptops from Lab Support IT Services, located in Old Main.
Q. What software is available on the laptop?
A. The laptops are equipped with Windows and the current Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
Q. Can I print from the laptop?
A. Yes. If you are connected to the wireless network, print job can be sent to the library's wireless printer. Instructions on setting up the wireless printer can be found on the following IT Services webpage.
Q. Can I connect to the campus wireless network and use the Internet with a laptop?
A. Yes. Campus-wide wireless access to the Internet is available. You will be required to sign in using your TRU Network account. For more information, see: Wireless Access @ TRU.
Q. Will the laptop’s battery be fully charged when the unit is loaned?
A. The laptop’s battery may not be fully charged when the unit is loaned. If possible, it is always advisable to plug in the laptop with the power cord when using it.
Q. What should I do if I want to save my work?
A. It is highly recommended that you save your work: to a USB memory device, by emailing it to yourself as an attachment, or to your personal F: drive on the TRU network. Information on saving to the network is available from the following IT Services remote access webpage.
