RSS

RSS (an acronym for Really Simple Syndication) is a Web content syndication format. RSS is a popular means of sharing content (such as news, event, and headlines) without requiring you to constantly visit a Web site to see what's new. The TRU Library RSS feed allows you to keep up to date on the latest developments at the library.

Where Do I Get a News Reader?

There are many different news readers available, many for free. Most news readers are applications that you download and install. Some others are web-based service you sign-up for that work inside your browser.

Some web browsers, like Firefox, allow you to subscribe to feeds (which Firefox calls Live Bookmarks) within the Firefox browser. Firefox can automatically detect if a webpage, blog, or other internet site has an RSS feed by displaying this icon

in the browser address bar. See the Firefox website for more information.

How can I use TRU Library's RSS feed?

After setting up your news reader, you will be ready to use TRU Library RSS. To subscribe to TRU Library RSS, which is located on the library homepage, right-click on

icon and select “Copy Shortcut” or “Copy Link Location” to copy the location (URL) of the service. Follow the instructions for your particular news reader, and then paste this location wherever it asks for the location of the service you wish to subscribe to.
